Pleasure Crafts not used for commercial purpose that are operated in Fiji waters are required to be registered and surveyed. The Ships Registration Decree 2013 and Maritime (Pleasure Craft) Regulations 2014 prescribes the requirements for registration and survey of pleasure craft operated in Fiji waters.

a. All propelled pleasure crafts operating in Fiji waters are required to be registered a’s a pleasure craft.
b. Any propelled pleasure craft that is owned by a non-Fiji resident shall be registered in accordance with section 4(3) of the Ship Registration Decree 2013.
c. The owner shall make an application for the registration of his or her propelled pleasure craft to the Chief Executive Officer using the application form provided in the Application for Registration of Pleasure Craft.
d. Checklist for registration of pleasure craft is provided in the Application for Registration of Pleasure Craft.
e. Registration is not applicable to non-propelled pleasure crafts operating in Fiji waters unless it is engaged on an international voyage. It is then required to be registered for such a voyage using the above form.
a. All propelled pleasure craft operating in Fiji waters are required to be surveyed as a pleasure craft.
b. The following surveys are applicable to propelled pleasure craft:
- initially for newly constructed or existing pleasure craft;
- 3 yearly periodical surveys; and
- special surveys in cases the pleasure craft or its engine are damaged due to collision, grounding, fire or other similar accidents, incidents or mishap to determine the seaworthiness of the craft and the operational condition of its engine.
c. The owner shall make an application for the survey of his or her propelled pleasure craft to the Chief Executive Officer using the application form provided in Application for Survey – Pleasure Craft.
d. Checklist for Initial Survey of pleasure craft is provided in SI-6-C12 Application for Initial Survey for Pleasure Craft Survey is not applicable to non-propelled pleasure crafts operating in Fiji waters but shall have the basic safety requirements required for an operator to safely sail the non-propelled pleasure craft.
e. All non-propelled pleasure craft engaged on an international voyage shall be surveyed for such a voyage using the above form.
Pleasure Craft owners are to comply with the requirements of the Marine (Pollution Prevention & Management) Regulations 2014 with respect to oil, noxious liquid substance, sewage and garbage ships discharge.
Pleasure craft owners are reminded that direct discharge of oil, noxious liquid substance, sewage and garbage from ships is prohibited in Fiji waters unless for the sake of saving the ship
