The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) will be part of the Fiji delegation to the Third Pacific Regional Energy and Transport Ministerial Meeting in Nuku’alofa, Tonga.
The week long, high-level meeting will be hosted at the Fa’onelua Convention Centre from 24-28 April, 2017.
Fiji’s delegation includes: Assistant Minister for Transport, Vijay Nath, the Director for Energy, Paula Katirewa, and MSAF CEO, John Tunidau.
“This is a great opportunity for Fiji to be part of high-level regional discussions with regional leaders on key issues and challenges faced by the region in terms of energy and transport,” said Mr Tunidau.
The meeting, which includes over 100 high-level delegates and experts, will discuss important issues such as the concept of Green and Blue Economy and the challenges of access to multilateral environment funding to support addressing the region’s energy and maritime transport challenges.
The theme of this year’s meeting is Affordable, Reliable and Sustainable Energy and Transport Services for All, which supports the vision of Pacific energy and transport ministers of their sectors being key pillars to enable sustainable development and eradicate poverty.
